In this video you talk about how full lotus may not be right for Vipassana meditation practice because it's painful to sustain for long periods, and there is no tranquility to help.

What positions do you recommend instead? Half lotus? Burmese? Anything else?

Thank you!

Try sitting with your legs crossed (one leg on top of the other) and if this is too uncomfortable then try to sit with one leg infront of the other (not one above the other).  If this doesn’t work for you, try a different position that allows you to conveniently observe the rising and falling of the abdomen.

Whilst maintaining awareness you can slowly change posture/ position should you need.
