Dear Venerables,

I have a couple of questions, and you kindly allow to ask them here. 1) who actually ate the food given on the video? One or several monks? 2) How many times did you eat it? 3) at what time of the day? 4) Was all the food eaten? If not, what did you do with the food left?

At the end of the video there are several monks praying for the lay people. 5) Did each of them have offerings on that day? They were holding their bowls on the knees. 6) what prayer was it?

7) The amount of the food given on the video is really big. Do you continue to take the food even if you know that there will be one or two monks eating it? I mean, even if you know this food will not be eaten.

Thank you. Please excuse my straightforward questions. I wish you to achieve your goal!

Thank you for your answer. And do monks have lunch and dinner? Do they eat all together? And together with lay people?

Usually monks eat first and then the lay people. Sometimes monks invite lay people to eat at the same time. Monks do not eat after 12 noon. So they have only breakfast and lunch. Sometimes only one meal.

Thanks for the video.  Looks very traditional.  Is there a reason for no shoes?

The lay cameraman's answer:

1) There were five monks in the video.

2) 3) It was the breakfast

4) After monks consume, the extra food is given to lay people and animals. I myself had some after recording the video.

5) Not all monks went on alms round (Piṇḍapāte). I noticed another monk apart from ven. Yuttadhammo

6)

Verse 1:

Bhavatu sabba-maṅgalaṁ, rakkhantu sabba-devatā

May there be every blessing. May all the devas(gods/angels) protect you.

Sabba-buddhānubhāvena, sadā sotthī bhavantu te.

Through the power of all the Buddhas, may you always be well.

Sabba-dhammānubhāvena Sadā sotthī bhavantu te.

Through the power of all the Dhamma, may you always be well.

Sabba-saṅghānubhāvena Sadā sotthī bhavantu te.

Through the power of all the Saṅgha, may you always be well.

Verse 2:

Sabbiitiyo vivajjantu

May all distresses be averted,

Sabba-rogo vinassatu

May every disease be destroyed,

Maa te bhavatvantaraayo

May there be no dangers for you.

Sukhii diighaayuko bhava

May you be happy & live long.

Abhivaadana-siilissa, niccam vuddhaapacaayino

For one of respectful nature, who regularly honors the worthy,

Cattaaro dhammaa vaddhanti: AAyu vanno sukham, balam.

four qualities increase: long life, beauty, happiness, strength.

7) Monks go back once they have received enough food. The food is shared with other monks and lay people and animals.
