I am trying not to make more of my experience of seeing, but I am wondering if what I saw was an indication of high attainment by the monastic involved. If this is inappropriate for questioning, I apologize.
I was meditating with the sangha where I attend regular evening puja. During meditation I did experience a powerfully calm state of single pointed concentration and an absence of arising phenomenon such as seeing, hearing, thinking, liking, disliking, etc. My body also became numb and I was unable to detect the different parts of my body during this experience. There was still consciousness so I am sure I didn't fall asleep. It was just kind of like the consciousness was on a different frequency than normal.
Anyway, meditation ended and the lights in the dhamma hall turned on. As the senior monk (I will omit his name) began giving the dhamma talk there was a bright radiant yellow and gold light surrounding him around his head and all around the sides of his body. This lasted for the duration of the dhamma talk. I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me from the lights turning on suddenly, but when I looked at the other lay people near me and the other monks in the dhamma hall I did not see the same light aura.
What is this?
I know that it is an experience of seeing, but does it indicate something specific about the monk?
