As a very good question found over here, maybe some like to reflect on it, or even give Dhamma of the Arahats on that.

I am no expect but craving to know is a form of thought. Without awareness, it may keep one from seeing truth in the nature of mind. Awareness of the craving may help see truth in the nature of the thought/mind. And ultimately with dhamma practice, decrease the craving/suffering by seeing it clearly from a dhamma perspective. This can be applied to any craving not just craving to know.

I'll keep this comment concise and basic to provide a high level reply.
