Meditation can be done in all four postures throughout the day: standing, walking, sitting, and laying down.

So meditate as much as you want and as often as you want. There's no need to be sitting in formal practice all day long.

Wanting to do something good is called Kusala Chanda. It is different from craving and it should not be feared. But if you are doubting or keep going back and forth on whether or not you should do it, there might be some hindrances involved.
