When I apologies to someone I often do so because I feel bad and want that feeling to go away or I want them to stop being mad at me. Is that wrong? Should I not apologies if I do so sooth my desires?

This is probably a dumb question but comes from my current understanding that desires are "bad" and lead to suffering.

Thanks a lot for sharing this video. I feel that maybe I should not any desires that my wanting to apologies comes with and be aware of them and try to let them go. I should try to strive to apologies for the sake of just expressing my regret to the person I might have hurt and let go of any other things that might come up while striving not to repeat the hurtful things I did.
