When i meditate and feelings arise (stressed happy sad etc.) am i supposed to analyze them to find out what causes them, or should i just acknowledge them for what they are and "move on" as they disappear?

"So our meditation has to be incessant. It has to be moment to moment. This is the basis of our practice. When the stomach rises, you focus on the rising, and then you let go of it. When the stomach falls you focus on the falling. You simply see it for what it is, strengthen and fortify the mind for just one moment, so that when it makes a judgment it makes one that’s clear and pure and impartial: Seeing is seeing, hearing is hearing, smelling is smelling, tasting is tasting, feeling is feeling, thinking is thinking. This is the understanding we should have as to what is meant by “mindfulness”. To remind ourselves of the object for what it is, so that there is no room for judging or partiality of any kind."

I like what Ajahn Sona said, (and this is a rough paraphrase) its like your mind is a gentle river, and the leaves floating along it are your thoughts. Look at the leaves, Note the leaves, But don't pick up the leaves and hold onto them.

If you do think note thinking because it will happen. What comes into awareness , that's what your noting. If your in formal practice go back to the rise and fall of the abdomen if nothing is prominant in your awareness. We don't try to think when practicing instead we are aware of whatever is happening from moment to moment.

realize it, not oppress it and let it go without thinking about it.

i know myself how difficult it is as, meditating so many thoughts come to my mind. and i'm a person who always is thinking about something. maybe we have to understand that the path that thinking (like reading buddhist texts)is only good to get rid of thoughts that keep us way from theexperience of nothingness.
